I don't do a lot of portraits, but always welcome the opportunity when it arises. In this case, the opportunity came from a simple snapshot taken one afternoon while enjoying some lemonade with a friend at a beachfront stand. The angle of the late afternoon sun and the shadows it cast make this portrait an especially interesting one. This painting was exhibited along with about 20 other paintings of mine – mostly landscapes – at a Winter 2002 show at the Schacknow Museum in Plantation, FL.
