I don't know if anyone else ever calls it that, but my friends and I always call the Silver Key area on Sanibel Island “the sticks,” because of all the dead trees — branches and roots alike — that stick up out of the sand near the water. The landscape that they create is ever changing as wind and water seem to carve the weathered wood into different shapes each time you go there.
