Every artist who has ever visited Sanibel Island (FL) has probably painted the Sanibel lighthouse. Here we see it as it is most beautifully experienced up close, far back from the water, rising amidst a thick wood of soaring Australian pines and other tropical vegetation, the ground below covered with a thick, unruly mat of decades of fallen, decaying vegetation. Facing back toward the east, the entire scene impressionistically glistens with rays of clear, seareflected morning light.
