Practically every artist in South Florida paints the Hillsboro lighthouse. Unfortunately, one can only get there four times a year as a member of the Lighthouse Society. I took their boat there late in the spring to shoot photographs from which to paint. I think this angle is different from most you see up close from below with the huge rocks of the jetty thrusting up in front of it. It's a dramatic view of a place that has seen more than its share of drama over the years. From shipwrecks to drownings, Hillsboro light has seen it all.
