The gracious plantationlike eastern façade of Fort Lauderdale's Bonnet House is a cherished and oftpainted scene. But I'd never before viewed it quite like this from far up the path that leads to the beach. From this vantage point, the house almost shimmered like a distant, gleaming jewel in the low rays of the warm midwinter sun, dramatically framed by the inky silhouettes of the aging trees and sea grapes that also cushioned my January walk with a blanket of their fallen leaves. This painting is part of the Bonnet House 2003 Impressions Exhibition of some 40 selected South Florida artists.
