Countless swamps dot the coastal areas of South Florida. Most inviting are those with boardwalks that allow the casual hiker to enjoy the natural environment with relative ease. Here a couple of great blue herons take advantage of the dry walkway to stand sentinel beneath the toppling branches of decaying trees.
