Nearly every local artist paints Wellfleet's Congregational Church. I've already done it, too, as seen elsewhere in this gallery. Here, I focused only on the steeple jutting up through old trees and reflecting the yellow-orange morning light just as I see it on my daily walk to buy newspapers at the local market. I especially like the fact that, here, it doesn't necessarily look like a church; it could be a monument or a public building. Most important is the serenity of its simple beauty, only slightly marred, I hope, by the communications tower now on top a nod to both modernity and the reality that it's probably the highest spot in town!
