Where's the lighthouse? you might ask. Well, the Mayo Beach light is long gone - moved to California, actually - but the house, the real "lighthouse" where the keeper lived, is still there and beautifully restored and updated. You'd almost never know it's painted white, however, when you see it bathed in the colors of a Wellfleet dawn: shadows of blue, and bright, almost orange-like light from the long, low rays of the rising sun.
