Down a side road and around Poor's Hill in Truro there's an actual "stile," something I hadn't seen outside my childhood Mother Goose book or hikes in the Lake District of England. It doesn't really go up and over a fence like a regulation stile - indeed, a purist might say it's more of a bridge than a stile, and thus my question mark - but it sort of looks like one and it certainly makes it easier to get from the sand trail along Poor's Hill down to the edge of the marsh beyond. I thought it also provided a quaint and colorful scene for a painting on a bright summer's day.
