No two structures better identify and represent the beauty and serenity of Wellfleet to residents and visitors alike than Uncle Tim's footbridge across Duck Creek and the steeple of the First Congregational Church - known as "the Congo" to locals - that soars high above the trees atop the Main Street hill. I've painted them separately and, once before, together. But I especially liked this down-low-and-looking-up view that contrasts the stark angularity of the bridge with the softer lines of the Congo's belfry. These truly are two Wellfleet icons.
