It's a classic view, of course, of Provincetown's Woods End light - this one from an August whale watch boat on which we were headed for the Stellwagen Bank. The light's brilliant white walls reflected the bright afternoon sunlight, while its far side was cast deep into a bluish shadow. Next to the light, the top of the oil house hunched low in shades of red and ocher in front of the dark green scrub trees behind it, and above the still brightly hued dune grass in front of it. To my painter's eye, it all combined to create a surprisingly colorful, if simple, scene.
