Local painters mostly paint Wellfleet's Main Street shops from the other direction - from west to east - myself included (see "The Village"). But this time I decided to paint them from the other end of the street, looking west, with the bright afternoon sun casting shadows even out on to the pavement. From this angle, I was particularly attracted to the big old tree that stands across the street in front of Town Hall because of the sense of coolness it adds to this otherwise hot, sunny scene.
