From the top of the low dunes behind Herring Cove Beach, the sweep of Cape Cod landscape is truly breathtaking: from the waters of the Cove on the right, across the low dunes, through the marshes and tidal pools behind, and on out to the far-distant dunes beyond which lay the historic village of Provincetown, where the the 1620 Pilgrims first made landfall in America and in whose harbor they signed the Mayflower Compact.
