Probably the highest dunes on the Outer Cape stretch across the border between Wellfleet and Truro on the Atlantic Ocean side of the Cape - or as the locals call it, "the back side." The 80-to-90 foot dunes pictured here provide a dramatic backdrop at our favorite beach. And though you can't see it specifically here, the spot at which the long sloping dune on the right intersects with the one behind it on the left contains a steep, sandy trail leading up between the two that affords access to this lovely, remote beach for intrepid hikers like ourselves.
